Figure-eight bunTry this trendy, mom-friendly twist on a basic bun: Make two side-by-side ponytails at the back of your head. Then wrap each tail around the other’s base (hiding the elastics) to create a figure-eight bun. Secure to your head with hairpins and a few spritzes of hairspray.

Zigzag partNeed some volume fast but don’t have any products on hand? Here’s a great tip from Cosmopolitan Magazine. Take a rat tail comb (the one with the long skinny handle and teeth that are close together) and draw a zigzag line down the center part of your hair. Strands will crisscross, adding height at your roots, no product necessary!

ShavingTop 5 Ways To Get The Smoothest Shave Ever

1. Wait at least 20 minutes before shaving in the morning. When you wake up your legs are still swollen from sleep making it more difficult for the blade to reach the bottom of the hair shaft.

2. Use the best razor money can buy! Read more …

Pre-treat your hairProtect your hair from chlorine by wetting it in the shower just before jumping into the pool. Hair is porous, like a sponge, so if it’s already soaked up tap water, it’ll absorb less pool water. Chlorine is also very drying. The longer it stays in your hair, the more damage it does, so when you get back from the pool, cleanse your hair with a hydrating shampoo then deep-condition it from mid-strand to tips.

Natural highlightsRemember back when you were a kid and your hair would get lighter during the summer because of the sun’s natural effects? Well, unless you’re spending the next four months on a beach, then your highlights are going to come from a bottle; and in order to make your streaks look natural you should only go one or two shades lighter than your base color. But the real secret to gorgeous highlights is all in where you place them.

Skip chunky highlights and go for super-skinny highlights about the width of angel hair pasta mainly at the hairline with a few random bright bits at the ends. Don’t start at the roots. If you try this technique at home, ditch the applicator that comes in the kit and use a Q-tip to paint on the streaks exactly where you want them.
