Good Morning,
My name is LaToya and I wanted to share with you that my son, At birth he weighted 10 lbs 22in. At 8 weeks he weighed 23 lbs. As a mother I was worried about this very concerned about the his weight. His doctors always stated to me not to worry that he is just healthy. And of course I breast feed him. My family always said that I must have had really good milk. My son is 6 yrs old and is the size of a eight yr old. He is not fat by any means and is tall and a sold young man. I would not change anything that you are doing or worry about Dangers size. He is a healthy baby and very much loved by his mommy and daddy. Congrats and the new love of your life.
Thank You for letting me share

I am not a mother yet (will be soon…February 6th, 2010) but I wanted to share my thoughts on this. Throughout my entire pregnancy thus far I have stressed and worried about the size of my baby. With daddy being 6′7 250lbs and I myself am not petite either at 5′11 and 170lbs there is concern for having a big baby. Neither daddy or myself are overweight people just larger than the average in size and height. I am not just concerned over giving birth to a large baby but just the general fact that chances are she is going to be bigger than average. I have done quite a bit of research on this and everything I have found so far isn’t much help. There are charts and statistics yes but than there are just as many real incidents proving them incorrect.
What I have learned is this…90% of it comes down to parenting. You shouldn’t be letting your 4 year old eat an entire large pizza by himself. Their diet shouldn’t be consisting of pancakes and pizza at that age in the first place. Serving sizes of those portions are going to make an adult obese so just image what it is doing to your child who is growing and needs proper nourishment and nutrients. That is poor parenting that unfortunately is most likely going to affect that child for the rest of his/her life.
Right now you have a big, healthy baby and I don’t think that that is something to overly worry about at this stage. As long as he is properly nourished and you teach and encourage him to eat healthy as he grows up being obese should not be an issue. Big doesn’t always mean fat.
Congratulations and good luck

Don’t you worry. He’s not fat, when I first read that he was 15 pounds at 9 weeks old I was shocked, but then I looked at his picture! He’s not fat, he’s just tall, which contributes to his weight! Don’t worry, you won’t be on Maury. P.S. He is just absolutely adorable!
