- Bellevue teachers are still on strike and Boeing could face a second machinist’s strike as union members prepare to vote today on the company’s “best and final” contract offer
- Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the families of the victims of yesterday’s tragic shootings in Skagit County.
The shooting spree left 6 people dead, and two more wounded. The victims include a Skagit County sheriff’s deputy. A Washington State Patrol trooper was also injured. The suspected shooter has surrendered. He’s been out of jail for less than a month. - The Republicans finally got to launch their convention last night.

President Bush spoke via satellite and did his best impersonation of a tired robot. John McCain was touted as “his own man” and party members stood up for controversial VP Nominee Sarah Palin, saying she has more experience than Obama. - Meanwhile, St. Paul Minnesota (where the convention is being held) is running out of jail space. Monday almost 300 protesters were tear gassed and arrested for being “anarchists”. Yesterday about 2 thousand protesters were fired upon with chemical agents and projectiles. They were part of a poverty march. I wonder why none of this happened in Denver?
- Oh my fave… some perv in Monroe got caught exposing himself at an espresso stand. Apparently he’s been letting baristas all over Monroe and Lake Stevens have a peek since February, telling cops “Once you start, it’s hard to stop.”
